X5 3.0 Ebay headers

Well, I finally went for it. Bought some headers for a 330i off eBay, and got a chance to hook them up this weekend. Initial impressions are great! I think it sound amazing in conjunction with 4.8is mufflers. And, there seems to be a noticeable power bump. I'll post more thoughts once I get to test them more in-depth

Very cool.

Did you have to replace any studs? Any major complications?

Any check engine lights?

Yeah, The nuts were sized to the studs. So, when I unscrewed them, the stud unscrewed from the head. I figured that I might as well replace them all. No major complications. I did have a shop cut and weld new flanges on the mid pipe to make it fit. But, I was expecting that. For the check light, I flashed my DME with the Euro 2 tune. It deletes the post cat O2 sensors and the secondary air pump. No check light for me

^^This is AMAZING, if I didn't have emissions every 2 years now I'd consider it - I would assume it would work in conjunction with the Conforti Shark Injector I have now - prob just reinstall stock tune, flash DME to Euro 2, and then reinstall Shark on top of it.

Any smell from the cats deleted or no?

Awesome! As RB said if I had no emissions I would definitely do this.

Do you have emissions testing?

The tune will show up on an emissions test as a "fault" (for lack of a better term).

I have headers sitting in my living room for my Z, reasons for the questions. I plan on using mechanical cat simulators and just simply leaving the sap disconnected from the exhaust. I guess I need studs too

Obd readiness is the word I was looking for. Some emissions testing facilities will not fail you on one not being ready. I've read Texas is one state. I have yet to check my state, but if your state allows two readiness faults, then the tune would work.

^This is correct - has to pass readiness - in Jersey if you are catless you cannot tune out the CEL - you have to play with o2 spacers so the readiness passes
