Steering problems

Guys, help please...when i am turning my steering wheel it acts weird, it is at first normal and when doing full lock on some parts it gets hard to turn the wheel, ATF fluid is full, and steering rack does not leak...but maybe ball joints? Mecahnic told me they are rekt and should be replaced asap which i will do next week (mechanic doesn't work weekends and busy up to wednesday) Word is about 3.0i X5 e53 5MT

You're replacing front ball joints yourself, or having your Indy do it? The ball joint housed in the steering knuckle can be a challenge. The etorx bolts are a pain to remove and the heads often shear trying to get them out... which means you're pulling the knuckle off completely. One is easy to drill out, the other one is a challenge, as it's a blind drilling. Just an FYI so you know what you're potentially getting into.
