Go get your original instrument cluster back.
You can drive up to
120 miles or 200 kilometers without have a fault (see datapoint #5 in the info below)...and as long as the 3 major things listed in the info below match...the LCM & IKE will communicate with each other and update.
If you've driven past the mileage requirements listed in the datapoint below that mentions it...then there will be a fault code "stored" but it doesn't prevent the components from communicating.
ALL 6 datapoints in the info below must be met when swapping LCMs or IKE (instrument clusters). If you have the software/hardware to ZERO the mileage and overwrite the VIN to used or new modules...then you're cooking with gas.
A BMW dealership does not have the software/hardware to install a USED IKE or LCM...they can only install new, or officially remanufactured/refurbished...which prevents dealerships from being tempted to do odometer roll backs.
