A little more fiddling around today, but still no luck. I think electrical faults can be ruled out as even using the levers etc on the actuator don't want to make things better....ie bypassing the electronics. It is as if the pin in the actuator isn't swinging around even though all of the levers etc are moving as they should - either with the cables of manually by hand.
I unplugged the actuator and plugged it back in a couple of times. I filmed the door locking with the key, unlocking manually with the inside lever, and also trying to move the arm inside that is linked to the outside handle when the whole car was unlocked and the pin was up on this door.....nothing wants to let the door open. Is there a way to break into the actuator or any other way to flick the pin that holds the door closed. Worst case is drilling lots of holes/or smashing is with a hammer!.....opening the door and changing the actuator......not ideal though! did you ever try tapping the actuator? worth I shot, I`m running out of ideas.

you may have to check continuity in the wiring going to the connector . and check and female pins in the connector to make sure 1 isn`t pusing out of the connector. if thats all good could be the actuator.

Add we have success!! A few taps from a hammer and a spanner while unlocking and locking the car managed to get the pin to move. Sprayed it with heaps of lubricant and now to reinstall the door lining!
Thanks for your support and making me feel sane as it was starting to make me go a little crazy. |

so you tapped the actuator I assume. glad you got it going. keep in mind you may need to replace the lock actuator. hopefully it doesnt do it again, it will be a pain to get the door pannel off if you can`t open door from inside and out. just my 2 cents.

Yep - tapped the actuator and it worked all last night.....this morning, no luck. I have ordered a new part, so will replace it next time I get it open.

Back to the drawing board, the electrical one I think......
So, I replaced the actuator with another one and the same issue!! 1. removed jammed actuator 2. installed replacement without connecting any cables, connectors or wiring harness 3. constantly checked that the pin that hooks onto the latch striker (part of actuator) dropped when manually lifting the internal and external levers on the actuator inside the door as I tightened the bolts (thought that maybe it was twisting - but all good) 4. tight - still working 5. connected external and internal cables - still manages to open and close - latch striker/actuator pin not jamming 6. locked the door manually by pushing the locking rod/pin down 7. door unlocked using the internal cable/lever - door opened 8. as above, but opened using outside lever ......all looking good so far 9. connect the wiring harness 10. lock the door manually 11. unlock the car using the key/central locking 12. DOOR STUCK/ACTUATOR PIN NOT RELEASING So it seems that I have narrowed things down, but how could the manual levers not override the central locking or unjam it by potentially moving things a little further?? This was one reason I looked over the electrical issues suggested as manually things didn't work. Any idea what the problem could be and how to fix it? At least I have a spare actuator.... Cheers |

I also have the DSC light on the dash - has been there for about 2 months......just reading a few posts there is a number of causes, but it does mention a dying battery. I just read the same potential cause for central locking issues and general gremlins with the E53.......
