Hi guys, I'm a newbie and I was thinking of installing a LED bar on my X5, did any of you guys installed one before? Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks

led BAR is not BMW thing, that's Mercedes thing. BMW is led RING.

Havent seen an LED bar install on an X5 yet.

Where do you plan to install it, bumper or roof?

One thing I noticed is that the front of the X5 is curved. A long bar would look goofy I think at the front.

I could see that a LED bar mounted on an OE Bull Bar would maybe look OK; in an offroadish kinda of way. The OE bull bar for the E53 is really hard to find, though.

If you want to stay OEM there was at least some additional headlight fitted at the roof rail for the e53: Part number 82440007417

https://oldsmobile.parts.com/index.c...er-82440007417

Does anyone has seen one of those?

Would be interesting if there will be an extra switch for those?

Welcome to the forum.
As you will have noticed by now, you can get a lot of advice on what not to bolt onto your X when it comes to non-OEM stuff. But don't be discouraged. It is all in good fun.

On-topic:
I like the idea of having enough light-power to barbeque a chicken from a mile away. That said, i'm not really a fan of the look. Even with a curved bar i think it looks totally out of place on a standard X5.
So no. No recommandations from me i'm afraid.

In my opinion: wrong car for such accessories
The x5 is just a softroader (no reduction, no locks, ...) - I know it may perform better offroad than most people expect (using right tyres, ...) but it's not designed for this purpose.

If you would like to have more light in some circumstances: BMW offered a xenon replacement for the front fog lights of the e39 (63130149369) & e46 (63130152441) which where activated together with the high beam. Maybe they are useable on the e53?
