You need more torque on it. Impact is also not gonna help. You need a longer lever hence the jack handle over the breaker bar.
This was the ticket - thanks. Soaked overnight, got a 3' black pipe, and it came off pretty easily afterwards.

what is the black box with clips on it - just aft of the radiator? it's in the way of the thrust arm, which I need to remove.

Is it on the driver side? It could be the air duct for the alternator. A picture would help, even one from the internet. If there's wire leading to the box it could also be the wheel sensor connector box cover.

thanks, I'll post one. It has clips on it, and can be opened up. I will go get a shallow socket, but the socket I have won't fit on the bolt with this plastic piece in the way. There are 2 small screws holding it on the side, and one right behind the bumper.

Yes, it's the driver side. Can't find the part on realoem. It's the plastic piece right against the thrust arm bushing bolt.

Go to local shop and ask for help.
They can undo the nut in 5 sec.
Give them $5.

Make sure you gently tighten the nut back, then drive home and do your work.

Most shops that I know of won't do that because of the liability issue. Too many liars oops Lawyers waiting to sue your ass.

I got the nut off, and I've moved on to now doing the thrust arm at the same time as replacing the axle.

This black bow I'm talking about has an access panel in the driver's side wheel well trim piece. I need to unclip the bottom of it to get the thrust arm bolt out by the bushing, but I wanted to know if anything was going to spill out on me if I did that. There is an electrical connector going into it right at the front of the box, right behind the bumper.

That black box that you are referring to is the air duct for the alternator. Just remove it and there should be enough clearance to remove the bolt for the thrust arm.

Good luck trying to get that box to line up with the alternator air duct later. If you thought the wheel nut was hard, lining up that box is harder.
