Code Reader/Reset/Scanner for 01.30 X5

What is a great scanner/reset tool for my BMW X5 March2001 -3.0 production ?
Don't want to spend hundreds, but something that will help with S.E.S light and other dash lights. I got a SES after an oil change and I notice it is idling a bit strange when I first start up. The motor seems to be rumbling and vibration more. NO stalling.

If you have an old XP computer, get BMW Scanner 1.4. A lot easier to install and use compared to INPA. Can also code your X.

If you just want to just read trouble codes for emission just get an App such as Torque Pro or OBD Fusion and a bluetooth scanner from Amazon. These apps also allow you to see live data which should help you in trouble shooting the problem.

No PC just Mac

Sadly I don't have a pc laptop. I 'll have to use a simple scanner tool.
I thought a generic Amazon OBD 1&2 would be fine, but I'll search for
more BMW specific.

A used windows xp laptop can be brought for as low as 40 bucks. I would buy a bluetooth scanner and get the app Torque Pro.

What you don't have any android devices? A cheap android smartphone with bluetooth capability can be brought use for under 40 bucks. You can get the free version of the app Torque, but the pro version is just $4.99.
