Eonon recommended a software update for my unit. Anecdotal but it seems to have improved my BT performance. Their instructions are below.

Instructions:
Firstly please write down the system information and all the data of the factory settings of your unit.
It is very important to record these data before upgrade.

1). Extract it and copy "update.img" to a blank SD card formatted as FAT32.
2). Power Off the head unit
3). Insert the SD card to the GPS SD SLOT (yes, it should be GPS slot)
4). Enter Settings----About machine,click System updates
5). The head unit detect the upgrade software, and then click confirm to upgrade it.(Click the "Wipe data and format flash!" icon)

Attention: Please do not power off and do not take out of SD card during update. It may take 5 minutes for update, so please pay more
patience on it. And please follow the way to update it strictly.

I may be accelerating the ditching of my Dice Mediabridge unit and doing the Eonon upgrade

It appears that Eonon is offering their Android GA6166 shipped from HK for $278

Android 5.1 System 7" Car Stereo DVD Player GPS Navigator OBD2 for BMW E53 X5 E | eBay

Nice that they helped OrangeFurious with a firmware upgrade. In the early days of my E46 GM5150 unit from Eonon, they issued several firmware updates to address user issues.

OrangeFurious,

Did you ever try removing the Eonon logo? My son likes it so I won't be removing his.

Yes, just the other night. Magic eraser and nail polish remover - it came off instantly but left some residue I need to clean up. Will post a picture in the next day or two. Thanks again for the tip. It was shockingly easy.

Good deal! I'll remember this if I upgrade my DSP X5.

How well does it interact with the OBC? The OEM NAV system has the security feature to put in a PIN that will prevent the vehicle from starting. How does the Eonon system tackle that?

It doesn't. No aftermarket system has that capability as of yet as far as I know.

Surprising that it doesn't lock the vehicle out.

Well we went through one update so far from Eonon and not only did it not fix the problem, it shrunk the screen size by 1/3 and none of the touch screen buttons line up so it's like playing a guessing game seeing which one I'll hit instead of the one I want lol. Unit is now completely useless :-/

Going to give them another update or two before I sign myself over to the 'do not buy' list. Kinda bummed because I was thinking about one for my X and now I'm not so sure.
