presuming at the age, spend the extra and replace the side rubber trim. its held on by tension, similar to the door seals. new top trim comes with glass by default

I found this out before my install date because my insurance would not cover OE on this. They wanted to use the roll of generic stuff the installers carry on their trucks. I said NO WAY and just ate the $25 from the dealer and had it on had on install day. I never researched the side seals but mine were in perfect shape, so no worries...

bhenrich -
yeah, depends how ocd u get. New trim does make it fit ~snugger~ but without a expense.... Especially when they need to remove it off the glass and then the semi fatigued metal needs to grip back on. Fatigue is a bad word to analogize it.... |

No if the glass has a green band on top and no IR film then its a no go. Should have a silverish hue to the glass.

So, the silver/blue tint on the entire glass surface makes it the correct glass.

Yes exactly. The part that really made this confusing has to do with the BMW part number that the glass vendor uses. At the safeLite here in the DFW area the BMW part number for comfort glass produces a glass that does not have the IR shielding/film within the glass. So you would have to find a vendor that carries the PG branded glass and you would have a better shot at getting the IR shielding/film since they yield the comfort glass for BMW. Then you would have to visually verify. Outside of this process just order comfort glass from BMW.
