20s on the X too small?

With the Sport suspension I find the 19" wheels are already on the verge of too stiff...anything more than 20" might look thug...also, my 19" Diamaris tires will run about $1250 to replace, I am guessing 20"s are more.

I'm not sure how some folks are finding significant difference in ride comfort when moving up to bigger wheels (at least going from 18-20s). I would think it would have more to do with the tire thats put on the rims. I put Toyo Proxies on my 20s and think they are a very good tire. No complaints about them yet, but haven't had them for a year yet to figure that out (plus, I only use them for Spring-Fall).

Maybe trying a different tire would smooth the ride for some?

I haven't noticed any. Let me also point out that I do not have the Sport package, so that may make my ride smoother, and thus harder to tell difference with diff wheels.

No, I don't either. Because my sport SAV is also my commuter SAV, I liked the cushier ride of the standard suspension. Besides, I wasn't willing to give up my heated steering wheel!

I recently test-drove the 4.8 (which of course has stock 20" Michies) and I was surprised that I did not feel a significant degradation in ride quality compared to my 4.4 sport (with 18" stock Michies). I have been back and forth about whether to get 19" 132's, or 20" 87's this spring, and I was leaning heavily toward the 19's until driving the 4.8... the ride comfort, as I mentioned, was not bad, and the handling was awesome
I think they both look great - maybe the 20" 87s have the edge a little looks-wise - but I was a bit concerned about the low profile of the 20's, as much for pothole durability as for ride comfort. Now that I know the ride comfort is not a big difference, all that leaves is the durability... and I've actually never heard of anyone bending an OEM 20" X5 wheel on a pothole, so maybe that need not be much of a concern either.
I'm still not 100% sure which way to go here, and I've never actually driven a 4.4 sport with 19" wheels, so I think I'll have to give that a try before deciding.

Wouldn't a wider width of the wheel/tire affect handling more than the wheel diameter? Saying the 20" will handle better seems to be a bit misleading...

Question, With all the rim sizes I dont see where lowering comes in.

When would someone lower there X???

Example.......(Let say 20' rims with a 1.5 drop all around)???
