It seems like forever. When I removed mind, the guides were not shot but the plastic was brittle

Also keep in mind the quality of oil and frequency of oil changes highly effects the guides going brittle and breaking. My brother's M62 in his 540 6-speed has 240K on original guides. He always does his oil changes between 4-5K miles with Motul Synthetic.

Time bomb. Our guides let go @ 170k don't fool yourself. The longer tentioner is the lower plunger and it has a spring that compresses and oil to extend it but like everything, wears out.

Do your guides now not after they force the need.

Maybe they didn't install it correctly? I know when R&Ring mine a couple times it has gotten hung up on something and wouldn't sit right. Just have to pop it out and try again. I hope that is the case and not that the new airbags really do fit like ass.

I don't think it's a install issue.
The clips/tabs fit ~snap~ directly in and it's not as if there is a adjustment tolerance for how much or less it sit's in

To see degree on oil, I agree but any syn, IMO can easily go 6500 miles as long as it's not seeing severe service (aka, never driven more than a few miles on frequency).

Plastic is plastic. It's all a gamble/risk on when one decides to change it

I sold new cars for a number of years. Everything we did was to make $. I stopped selling cars because of the industry. A lack of morals or ethics abound. I could not be part of it any longer. So, I then sold yachts. I experienced a whole new lack of morals and ethics. I stayed even shorter amount of a time.

My point was yes, they pointed out good things but not one of the big 3. At this age/mileage, they should have asked I think, if they cared about the life of the rig or my wallet.

The "salesman" is anyone trying to get you to do or buy something. In life, we're all salesman if we try to convince another. I just urge people to understand the motivation of a suggestion before blindly going forth. This same BMW dealership charges my "brilliant" sister-in-law a hefty sum to add coolant. I take care of her car now but they also convinced her that she needed to buy brakes (disk and pads) every time she bought new tires. She didn't mind because they gave her a loaner for a few days. Not a great trade off in my opinion but it worked for her.

My car having an "m" badge on the back when I bought it and today when it's not an m5 reminds me that I forgot to question the sellers, friends of ours, and got duped. I was so sure it was what they and my "mechanic" said it was that I paid full retail. I'll change the badge once the build is complete but for now it's my badge of shame.

A M badge is never a badge of Shame, even if it's not a real M car.

I had M sill plates on my Touring, along with throwing stars wheel on it.

Just took a good look at the steering wheel before it get's replace tomorrow...

From the 3 oclock - 9 oclock position, the reveal seems quite tight.
From 9-3, it is larger, but not as large as the OP pic.
Granted.....when you take a zoomed up photo like the OP did, sometimes it looks bigger than in real life.
