Another option I was wondering about would be a UUC TSE 330i muffler (a 2 can side by side muffler) split to two. At least that would be a system designed for an M54 engine.

Exhaust is tough. Everyone has a certain taste or desired outcome. I replicated that same setup with my current x5, but used Aero Ar25's which are used by the e46 m3 guys often because they kill rasp. I will repost the clips when I get on my computer a setup a new You Tube user. Short answer. The long magnaflow cans sounded great with and without headers. I don't remember much drone at all with that setup and would be a safe recommendation. It had a nice growl. Paired with headers it sounded exotic. I find that video clips often don't capture or represent well the BMW I6. They tend to pick up and emphasize a particular tone. Maybe you guys have noticed this as well.
