Rear trunk lid
Has anybody had the issue of there trunk not opening? Is there a manuel release to the trunk? Mine won't open period. I've fired using the key fob, the trunk release button from inside and tried opening directly from the rear. I have also noticed that my automatic lock is not working either. Any ideas? There is a small cover on the trunk interior panel you can pop open - inside is a pull tab that will release the trunk.
Picture coming....

From the manual...
![]() As to why it won't open electrically, have you checked all your fuses etc?

What model/model year X5 do you have? I ask because the facelift or LCI has a slightly different tailgate operation...it has SCA (soft close feature)...and sometimes the relay for the tailgate goes bonkers and a pull and replace can sometimes get it working.
But again...you gave no model/model year information...so don't know if this applies or not.
