Do the buttons work inside? Put a wedge in the door and see if you can hit the buttons. If not, call a tow truck. They have a lock out kit.

The center console button works yes. But I neee to get inside. What do you mean a wedge? And a tow truck has a lock out kit? Was thinking about a locksmith but won't the alarm go off? I don't know what to do.

Lockout kit comes with a plastic wedge to open the door slightly, then they stick an inflatable bladder in the small space created by the wedge. Inflate the bag with the little hand pump bulb and it will create an opening large enough to accommodate a rod that comes in the kit for pressing the unlock button. We used to use them all the time at the indy I worked at.

If you're BMW was locked using the fob prior to the issue...then it is in DOUBLE-LOCK mode...and pulling on the interior door handles...or pressing the central unlock button will not unlock the vehicle alone.

Since the 2000 model year...BMW revised the central locking system's "double-lock" feature where there is a way to unlock the interior doors...but you will need to have electrical power. If the battery is dead...then the emergency unlock procedure outlined in the highlighted text below...will not work.

Emergency UNLOCK procedure if vehicle is in DOUBLE-LOCK mode:

If you own a BMW and "double-lock" has no point of reference to you...then read the information below about the central locking system and its double lock feature:

Thanks for the info, but I still need to open my door from the outside. Before start any diagnoses on the lock actuators or FOB issue

Just call CAA or any tow company. Last one we had to get into( door lock broken and battery dead) it took the tow truck operator less than a minute to get into the vehicle. As mentioned above they have specialized tools for this purpose.

Had the exact same problem on my 2002. Called a locksmith and he used the plastic wedge to insert an inflatable bladder at the top corner of the driver's door window frame. Pumped in enough air to get about a 1/2 inch gap, then used a rod to pull the inside door handle twice.

Sure, the alarm sounded, but it stopped as soon as I started the engine with the key. $75 plus a $50 trip charge - covered by State Farm Insurance.

2002 X5 3.0 313,700 miles
2014 428i 23,700 miles

2004 325i sold at 123,600 miles
2001 325i sold at 66,000 miles

1970 Firebird - Under restoration
