4x4 goes on and off

Hello,

my 4x4 Controllamp goes on and off permanently.

ABS/Brake lamps are still off. I already checked the plastic gearwheel in the VTG, but itīs ok.

DSC is still working. I read in another forum this doesnīt work if the gearwheel is broken.

So Iīm sure itīs not the gearwheel and Iīm also sure itīs not a wheelsensor für DSC/ABS, because itīs also working.

What else could it be? Does already have some of you equal problems and any idea what I could test or do?

Scan the car. Could be the steering angle sensor.

There is no fault in the memory by the steering angle sensor.

I already scaned the car... The VTG only says temporary fault but not which kind of fault.

When Iīm driving and playing with the gaspedal a little bit the 4x4 symbol goes on and off and I always here a gong.

Depends on what you mean by playing with the gas pedal. If you are mashing the gas pedal to do a burnout with the X then perhaps the DSC is interpreting that as wheel slip and are activating the brakes. The gong is just a reminder that something is happening. Try disabling the DSC and then play with the gas pedal. Same results?

I meant when Iīm driving constantly and playing a little bit with the gas pedal, just 2mm or so.

No burnoutīs or hard acceleration.

How does the lamellar clutch sound if the lamellars are worn?

Iīm trying to figure out whatīs wrong with the system, because the error memory says nothing.

DSC/ABS still working.

I can DSC just turn off until the failure is not present. If itīs deactivated the 4x4 system still produces error messages and I hear the gong...

What is the temperature where you live? The gong is related to the weather, the activation of the dsc does not make a sound...atleast not in my X. Also, a gong is usually followed by a message on the dash, unless it's a outside temp warning.

X5 electrical issue (any): always check battery charge and then alternator performance. Common source of many temporary gremlins on these. I've had the 4x4 light, seat heaters stop working, other warning lights on, suspension errors, and all traced to battery or alternator. Of course there can be other causes too.

Goosing the throttle might just be goosing the alternator? Seems improbable, but...

Itīs a DSC wheelspin sensor.

Itīs not really damaged, but gives some faulty informations.

Have to find out which one it is and change it.

I'm just wondering... shouldn't you also get a low tire warning light with this? I'm thinking that sensor is used for the tire pressure algorithm too. Definitely could be wrong, though!

No, the sensors are only for DSC/ABS/wheelspin as far as I know.

RDC works with/over sensors at the tyre pressure valve?!
