How many miles on your N62?

To all of the N62 V8 owners out there. How many miles are on your N62 and what types of repairs have you had to do along the way?

I bought my X with 73k miles on it. It now has 109k. I just replaced the valley-pan, front timing-cover gaskets and valve-cover gaskets. I've had a few issues with rough-start and cylinder-misfire over the winters. It never happens when it's warm. It passes the "intermediate lever test" as administered by the DIS tool. Its possible it has new levers installed? (I couldn't ever find a date-stamp on them to identify the "bad" ones)

It seems to run pretty good. No smoking or oil consumption. How about you?

56k miles. Replaced alternator bracket gasket due to oil leak. That's only thing that failed on the car. Other than that, it has been very reliable. No transmission issues, no intermediate lever issues, no valve stem seal issues, no window issues, no door handle/lock issues, etc... Yes, reliable. LOL... Everything is original except filters, fluids, brakes, and wheels/tires. Still low miles so only time will tell if things start falling apart.

I do love that N62. Puts a smile on my face every day! Vroom-vroom!

I've had leaks from who knows where as well. I think I've got them all covered with the VC and timing cover gaskets. I hope so anyway!

I had problems with the power-steering reservoir leaking too - a new clamp seems to have helped a lot. The underside could use another cleaning - it was a real mess a few months ago!

66 mi / 106k km.

I've noticed some smoking after extended idling and naturally some oil consumption. The CCV was pretty cheesed up when I replaced it the other day so hopefully it helps but I'm not banking on it.

about 1/20 starts in the cold will be unsteady. I just shut the engine off and restarted it and it seems to go away.

- CCV Valves and hoses
- Sport steering wheel trim
- New HID bulbs
- New battery
- Rear air struts (before I bought it)

Fronts are starting to sag over a few weeks parked while I was at work so those will need to be replaced soon as well.

Only owned it for 5,000 km though

Look at all you low milers . I'm at 186k now. I love driving it, but only 6k of those miles are mine. Funny though, I've paid for a healthy portion of the repairs that should have been done prior to me getting it.

Did or am in the process of doing the following
- valve cover upgrade for cold weather ccv
- ccv's
- vcg's
- valley pan and coolant tubes
- intake gaskets
- plugs
- belt tensioners
- thrust bushings
- rear links and suspension joints
- maintenance overhaul - all fluids (coolant, oil, diffs, xfer case, tranny, steering), filters (air, cabin, fuel), wipers
- sunroof drains
- AC recharge
- rear window repair
- power steering hoses/clamps
- main coolant hose
- brakes
- hitch
- headlight washer diverter

PO recently did
- control arms
- rad
- coolant reservoir
- water pump

It's a love/hate kind of thing

I have a love-hate relationship with the X as well. Lately I've been on the love-train!! Back in January when it was pissing oil and coolant up and down my driveway - not so much love. Actually I rather despised the car. Hahahah....

If I can get 186k miles out this thing that'd be awesome. I only drive about 3000 miles a year - so pretty light duty. Fingers crossed.

I guess there are a couple other engine related things which have been done as well now that I think about it...

The PO replaced the water pump at some point. The patina in it is different an there's a coolant-stain on the underside hood insulation. Oops...

I also replaced the idler and tensioner pulleys, belts, all coolant hoses and expansion tank. Oh - don't forget the ccv's (which looked fine) and the plugs.

Next up is suspension! It rides great and has no adverse tire wear - I am embarrassed to say I haven't rotated the tires in more than 25k miles. They look fine.

I am getting a bit of clunking from the front when I hit a bump (like the driveway transition) but it's not severe. I've heard a little bump in the rear too - but that was under a pretty severe maneuver - not normal use.

Looks like the camber in rear is probably a bit excessive. I haven't had it looked at yet
