If you've worked on cars (other than a Toyota appliance) much you'd know what I mean. I don't need to define solid for you, you already think it's funny you're proof it has different meanings to different people. An enthusiast or someone who works on cars professionally or as a hobby can easily see a car as solid if the major areas of concern have been addressed. Higher performance cars are amazing but require a different kind of owner, they are almost always more expensive to own but the trade off is worth it for many. AKA good bones and I'd stand behind anything I claim about my cars.

Whatcha working on or driving these days?

I didn't get the impression he felt your X5 wasn't in great shape. I believe he just found it ironic someone could characterize a vehicle as solid when it's had so much significant work done to it when it now has 107K miles.
