Connecting AUX cable- Need clarity

Hi all,

Trying to get an AUX in my 2002 X5 E53 3.0L. There are heaps of guides, but I'm getting no clarity

It has the business CD version (DSP I believe), and I want to connect an AUX cable to it.

It has the 12-Pin input. However, it already had an adapter plugged into it

I bought this from eBay, but the plug doesn't fit. I removed the cables and attempted but no luck.

- Can my cables touch each other?

- Which colour (Red/White/Yellow) correlates to which PIN?

- Can I just buy this 12-pin adapter to plug right in? It would mean I'd skip the end two wires (brown/white "stock" ones)
