Well, they have not agreed on anything yet, as the direction was to get a quote from BMW and then bring it back to them. However, I would assume Sam's Club value their members and would take the proper corrective action...

What difference between the US and Euro spec version?

Check FCP Euro for Xenon OEM replacements. Looks like they have them at $766 each.

The 'EuroSpec' ones are the same internals (except for RHD models). They are available in clear corner lenses rather than amber- which is most likely what he was referring to. They're also like twice as expensive. Unless your E53 uses the ones with all the good stuff like leveling and servos that move left/rt when you turn.

Then they're like THREE times as expensive.

By the way- we can be certain that the lights in this car were manufactured near or after 09-03. This is a face lift E53.

My e53 is the 2006 model(face lift version). And yes, I do have self-leveling and my headlights adjust with steering wheeling inputs. That said, I would assume the price point won't be the $766 each aforementioned by a member and much more expensive like you said.

The FCP Euro site didn't have much explanation on the lights so my bet is you would probably be correct, they may not be the ones you want. But, it may be worth a 5 minute phone call to them to see if they have what you need and the cost.

I still wouldn't worry too much ab a fight. It may cost them more than they'd like to pay, but if you consider that your headlights are a major safety issue, and they've already asked you to take the first steps to remediate their mistake, I expect you're pretty good. You may have to make a phone call or two, but I would be completely surprised that you'd need to go in guns a-blazin, threatening to sue, etc.

Having said that, I am interested in the outcome and effort needed for it.

Maybe they will find you a good set of used ones and polish them up properly for you and have them installed. I don't think SAMS will be offering this type of service too much longer given the variability in service and treatment applied by their resident techs. Headlights restoration is really needed to be performed by someone that has patience and attention to detail with their work. At $49 for the service I just can't see them securing the right kind of talent to do a great job on this service.

So both lens are damaged? Thought only 1 was messed up. Should be interesting when they see the cost. Im betting they will have a insurance claim and they will secure for you a nice set of used lights. My suggestion would be if thats the case you dont have them do the restoration.

Passenger side is mainly damage. The driver side is not that bad.

Really curious to see how this ends. As mentioned, my bet is they try and source a good used light; maybe even a pair if you are lucky. I'll be really surprised if they eat the cost of a brand new headlight.
