Question: X5 vs.TL haha

hey guys in know they are completely different classes of cars... but me and my buddy have a arguement going on here
he says his 2006 Acura TL automatic(270hp i think) can take my 2001 4.4, both completely stock.

He's got alot less weight to move than us. I know with my Dinan setup I could give him a run for his money. What's his top end speed? My redline is now 6200(130@4500rpm)

Acura TL has a 0-60 of ~6.3 and does the quarter mile in ~14.8 seconds. Your X5 does ~6.6 and 15.1 - it will be close.

Well, in poor traction or snow, you would win. In a head on collision, you would definitely win.

I've had this arguement with my friends with their hot cars often, I tell them lets race for a mile, you can choose the first 9/10's mile, I'll choose the last 1/10th. No one has taken me on yet. They know there are places they can never follow my X5 in.

I agree it should be close, though that is simply a guess based upon the eng specs, weight, etc.

Also, they offer 2 diff trannies in the TL: auto, an SMG and a 6 spd manual. I suspect the torque steer is still a real handful on hard accel., based on the one I drove, though the manual has a limited slip, from memory.

My nod might be to the X, espc. up in the higher road speeds...

Hey, talk's cheap, let's race!

I had the X5 4.4 and the still have the 04 TL..... At lauch the TL would lead but over say a 1/4 mile the X5 would simply out muscle it.... between 45-80 it would make up the ground.

That's a clever way to look at it, Tomaz... And very true!
