After all of the info I have learned on this forum glad to be able to help. For others, the non-GPS has an input level option as well, cannot remember if it is within a menu that becomes available after connecting the AUX line or using the 1-6 preset buttons as on the GPS unit. Had this in my '04 4.4 which I sold a few years ago.

I just have basic radio/business CD - No GPS
I did the aux hack.
When in aux my preset numbers go away (but I still tried pressing #6....)
So I dont get vol. control?
Always aux is lower than radio in my car.

Interesting looking HVAC controls. Is that your photo or one you found online? Kind of looks like a euro model, or a very early X5

2004, US, Its what you get if you dont have "automatic climate control".
You have to turn dials instead of pushing buttons....

Back to the AUX topic.
When I plug in my iPhone I get the AUX option on the radio (and it works great playing through the ear phone jack).

I tried a bluetooth converter that I use on my home stereo system where I can play music from my iPhone or computer via bluetooth to my home stereo.

When I tried this in the car - and the patch cable goes from the bluetooth to the AUX input hack of the car - I dont get the AUX option on the radio??

But even if this worked, and I played music via bluetooth in the car - my phone wont be connected bluetooth at the same time........

Auto climate control is included in the Premium Package. Note as well the non-high OBC/cluster. Another victim of a non PP car. Our '01 is the same. I much prefer it. Reminds me of the E24 from my youth.

You can juuust see the HVAC controls peeking out from our delivery- 17 years ago now! Ours was a unicorn of sorts- has sports package, non-premium, but auto transmission.
