Cool Even more!

Oh, I forgot to add that the my X5 was originally delivered in Utah and came to New Mexico when it was two years old. I never mentioned it because down here we kinda take it for granted that cars do not rust. My new '05 X5 is completely rust free like all southwest desert cars.

Very nice. Reminds me of my first e53. Nicely optioned 4.4 you got there for sure. Cold weather, sports package, comfort seats, and nav. I really like that color combo too.

Bee ee ay you tee full.

Great story well documented. You came to the right place to share and help maintain that gorgeous machine.

Considering you won't need winter tires im betting you could find an xoutpost friend from the north that would help offset the cost of the car a little bit.

Shipping is a bear but I have a friend from southeast Wis that goes to az once or twice a year. Or I figured out a way to save $100 on FedEx (still was $250 ouch)

Cool Love it!

I plan to keep and use the winter tires. We do have a winter down here, but it usually stays in the mountains above the city. Plus, trips to Vegas to see my kids will mean traveling thru Flagstaff where the weather is real fickle in the winter. Besides, I kinda like the 10 spoke wheels the winter tires are on. The only thing I plan to add to my X5 is a traffic cam.

Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum and all the encouragement,

AceEngineer

I was going to ask which were the wheels with the winter tires. I use winter tires year round. I discovered by chance that they save my butt on a regular basis I drive in Chicago and the roads get so oily between rain that they are like ice when it first rains. After I realized why my 01 x5 could stop and turn so much better on damp roads vs my wife's 01 x5 was the winter vs all season tires I switched her to winter as well.

Congrats on the great buy, and nice color combo and options!

How is the panorama roof not opening? Does it try to tilt up both panels, but the rear panel doesn't tilt up, causing the roof to jam while trying to open? If so, there's a no parts needed diy fix to it that disables the rear panel tilt and makes the front panel move freely again.

Lots of tutorials on xoutpost and YouTube.

Second on the through of disable second panel. Cut a couple notches with a Dremel I think I saw in one fix.

Congrats on the SAV. Nice color combo with running board.

There's no coding that will turn on the AE rings as DRL. The brightness is too low for that anyway.

What is the thing on the rear bumper?

Cool Have diagnosed the problem

SigBoi,

Both panels tilt, the vent function works fine, it opens and closes normally. When I try to retract it, the front glass just goes down but not back. It jams at that point. The sun shade opens fine, but when closing it takes a button push for each 6 inches because we tried to initialize the roof and it wouldn't initialize because of the jam. That turned off the collision detection thus the 6 inches at a time. We pulled both sections of glass off and examined the complete mechanism. We determined that it needed all new plastic parts, front and rear. I've done it before and the worst is usually pulling the head liner because you have to be sooo careful. So far I have found kits for the front and rear for about $500 total.
