Exclamation Engine replacement and panoramic roof

Hi guys,
I have x5 00 4.4l, now im not complaining about 4.4l 286hp speed or anything but i would like to fit in an engine that can offer more for example of a newer x5, M-series, or even a porche gts enginge (if possible), and to get a panoramic roof instead of the ordinary roof rack, i would like to mention that im not interested in buying a newer x5 as i love my x5 00 alpina white
Also if happens and was possible to fit anew engine what comes with it (eg: gearbox change and other related equipment)
Thanks in advance looking forward for your replies...

Well you want a different motor AND a different sunroof setup so that's body and motor. Better to buy a different X5. If you wanted one or the other especially if it was just motor then it might make sense but cost wise to do the mods your talking about would cover the cost of buying 2 X5's.

In here the cost of panoramic roof set with the motor and the electrical stuff is 150$ form another x5, as for engine prices vary depending on wich one is under question, so we leave the cost idea, which engine would be possible to fit instead of the 4.4l and which other related upgrades.

Since the pano roof is for the facelift models 2004 and newer your going to run into problems bolting that in I would imagine.

Motor wise any bmw motor that works with the v8 transmission that is in there now will work. Changing to something that isn't bmw motor wise will be a nightmare because of the awd.

Thanks Crowz, i would be looking towards x5 m 4.8 with around 400 hp, a trans replacement to 8 shifts and some other minor details.

Cheers!

Big project to undergo.

I can understand an engine swap.....but not the panoramic sunroof and not really
needed....IMO.

My recommendation.......Rebuild engine.....get a 6 speed Manual tranny and Forced Induction your current X5.

Then that would be something!

LS (your choice on which variant Chevy engine) engine with RWD setup. You'd have all the power you could imagine but cost, depending on which LS you went with, and effort would be interesting.

Forget the pano roof idea unless you just HAVE to have it. Then no amount of reasoning would talk you out of it. And if that's the case, it might be worth it for your personal enjoyment but I don't think anyone here is going to recommend that.

Why not rebuild and blueprint your 4.4 engine then slap a VF Engineering turbo onto it?

Life would be easier, no DME ton interface with the car's systems.

If not turbo, simply try and find a 4.6 engine, you'll get more power and its plug and play.

Having done engine swaps in the past I suggest you exhaust all efforts to mod what you have. Save money, time and overwhelming frustration.
