Ride quality comparison

Time to replace my E53. Wondering if there’s any ride quality difference to ante up for an E70?

It will depend on which E53 you are comparing to which E70. We have an air-ride 4.8is E53 and an X35d sport package E70 on springs. I prefer the ride on the E53, but the E70 is still very capable (and enjoyable) without being harsh or uncomfortable. Both vehicles are on 20" wheels as well just to add information to the comparison.

The E70 feels more solid in build quality, kind of makes the E53 feel dated/old at times. If you have any specific questions regarding the two... LMK, I'll try to answer.

E70 seems to be better at handling. But like crystal works said it depends on the model. I find the ride quite harsh on our e53 3.0i sport compared to our previous e60 sport.

Thanks guys

I have a 01 3.0, 240K. Thinking about replacement with another X. Trying to find one under 100K. Old girl rides kinda stiff, just wondered if a E70 would be worth throwin some more cash in to get.
Thanks for the help.

The E70 rides nice. I had an E53 with 4 corner air suspension and still have an E53 with 3.0i and springs and the air ride was much smoother over bumps. The E53 does feel dated though

Well I jumped the gun on this one. Dealership pulled some shady stuff so missed out on it. Well that and I cant get away to go handle it for the wife directly.

Was a nice one. 14k for a 2010 e70 with every option bmw ever had available for the x5 that year.

Now when I do get around to buying the wife one I have to go find a unicorn of e70's for her

Sorry but I cant give a comparison after all.....

That's what we paid for our diesel. Have been very happy with it thus far. Has almost every option. You can't get every option because some exclude others. For example, nappa leather dash and seating will exclude the active ventilated seating.

Also, I'm not sure if soft close doors and some of the other more "exotic" options were available on the pre-LCI E70's.

This one had active seating, heated steering wheel, heated seats on all three rows of seats. The list just went on and on. The thing where you decode vins normally shows one block of options for most of the ones I looked up including my e53. This one had 2 1/2 blocks of options.

Heavily loaded. But I will use the list I saved out if we go shopping again.

Wife is dead set on a new house now after getting pissed off on this deal so I guess our next buy will be a new house.

Just curious why you say its rough? I did my rear subframe bushings recently and it was night and day. A few family members and friends comment how smooth it feels, but i do feel the vehicle is a little more bouncy than my F10 5 series, but i'm guessing its the shorter wheel base?
