I don't understand why anyone's reasoning for purchase, DIY experience or budget is ever an issue. Just as in your case there is no way to know and just as there is no way for you to know if contributions are ever worthwhile to consider. If someone comes here for help we should try to help them make an informed decision. Their course of action taken should be of no concern. When I started modding cars I was way over my head, bought used stuff, had very limited tools. First engine I pulled was with a chain fall hooked to an apple tree limb, 2X4s for jack stands, bumper jack to lift it. The good ol' days were not that good. Any input I got was from friends that got their hands dirty with me. There were many times they thought I was nuts but they were still there to help.

Here's one of your posting on a subject you have absolutely no knowledge about, but added your worthless 2 cents. https://xoutpost.com/1108109-post17.html People can read the entire post and see that I provided factual info instead of the proverbial Shit. I have helped many noobs on this forum as well as local BMW owners in my area fix their BMW without any monetary gain. Just because I don't speak glowingly of the brand doesn't mean that I am negative. I just happen to speak the truth.

First thing I do when I buy a vehicle is find a forum that covers it.
If I like the vehicle enough I join the forum. If I enjoy talking about the vehicle I stay. If I like the people AND enjoy the vehicle I participate and try to make friends, help others and have a good time. ALL of the forums I have been a member on have those that have a canned "Use the search" or other not particularly enticing to new member types. I try each time to just answer the questions if I know the answer or work with the person find the answer if I don't know the answer. The way I look at it with the use the search types is if that was a good answer then why not just close all forums after they have been open for a few years since everything has been asked at least once before. What fun would that be. That engagement a new member gets with getting his question answered by a member is what makes them feel welcome and makes them want to stay and help if they can later. Telling everyone to just search for the answer is about as welcoming as slamming the door in their face. On the income level part.. I could care less if your rich or poor as long as your someone that enjoys the vehicles the forum is about. I find the money challenged to be a bit more hands on with their rides and thus far more knowledgeable about how to actually work on their cars. If you need to send your vehicle to an indy or a dealership all the time I kind of pity you since your missing out on a very fun part of owning the vehicle. But to each their own.

The E53 is not in any way a car for poor people - it breaks more often than any car I've owned or run since 1990, and the parts ain't exactly cheap. I've been through the anguish of using non-OEM shocks which also don't have any sort of warranty like the originals, and now face having to replace both fronts again. Since the last OEM replacements. There's a bunch of other stuff I can feel starting to fail - engine mount vibration, push-rods need looking at, slow AC leak and a little smoke after a long idle, so it's not plain sailing.
It's a blissful, amazing car to drive; I won't sell mine ever cos it is pretty much a legend on the road (the backside view is enough), but financially it's quite a b*tch to own and run as a daily driver. I'm already nostalgic about it

Before you go and crucify me why don't you go and read some of my 5900+ posts. You will see that I have given answers to many of the problems that BMW owners post on this forum.
