Please help with key tumbler

I took my son to basketball practice tonight and when I went to turn on the X5 the key turns, no cluster power and the steering is locked.
I have tried to google it, there is a lot of info regarding this for the e36 and e39
but not so much for the X5.
Has anyone had this happen?
Could really appreciate some advise.

Here is what I did for anyone in the future that gets stuck.
Basically my car is being driven like it was stolen lol

I first removed the keyed tumbler and that looked to be in good working condition
Then I removed the ignition switch and this look to be good as well
I noticed that when I turn the key the shaft was not turning at the end where it goes into the ignition switch.
With the key in the ignition to turned the switch with a screwdrive and it started right up!
Still had a locked steering column. I watched a few youtube videos about how to drill and remove the locking screw. as you can see I missed the first time.

At least now I can move the car.
Not sure what part I need to order to fix it?

Try wiggling/vibrating the key to different degrees to see if it will catch. Sounds like yo need a new ignition switch.

I just ordered a new steering lock housing. I think it should take car of things.
I think the shaft broke inside the housing.
