Bluetooth connects then disconnects...
I had fully operational bluetooth for a couple of months after buying the car - and it suddenly died. Did all the usual checks/fuses out etc but no joy - so bought a second hand unit on ebay. Just fitted it and pairing mode now works. I can find the bluetooth module with my phone (iphone6) enter the new pass key - and it connects for about 1 second and then immediately disconnects. Any thoughts??? The second hand module has the vin number from whatever donor vehicle it came from as its identification name - but not sure if that’s of any relevance? Many thanks!!! |

Let me guess. You are on iOS11 or higher?
https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...-thoughts.html The plot thickens. ![]() Do you have a friend with a Android phone nearby? Try have him/her connect with that and see if that works.

More than likely you are connected, turn of the ignition turn on again and then try your phone. Mine did the same when pairing but still worked after start up. It kept disconnecting on the phone screen but it was actually paired. Hope this helps.

Will have another go - but the car told me I wasn’t connected too. Didn’t try to place a call though come to think of it...
Thanks! |

I found with mine that since I had too many contacts in my phonebook (my office Outlook added nearly 1000 "suggested contacts" to the others I had!) the bluetooth would continuously connect and disconnect. Try going into the settings for your connection on the iPhone and uncheck the contacts option and then see if it connects and maintains connection. I did that with mine and now only sync my favorite contact list that I have created.

Thanks for the above - for some, as yet unexplained reason - my phone worked perfectly as of yesterday - as in, I tried to make a call - and had the handset to my ear (my gf was drving...) and the call went through the car’s system with the phone connected...
Think this is genuinely the most unhelpful post I’ve ever made in about 20 years across various car forums: I had a problem. Problem is now resolved. Have ABSOLUTELY no idea why it now works! Thanks for input to those above though - my only half guess is that perhaps it was battery related? My phone had 100% charge - and the car had been on some long journeys and so had also been charged - whereas a few weeks ago we had a strange incident where the alarm went off as we drove along for a about 10 minutes, and had been on a few short journeys that month without a long run to charge the battery... - so had put it down to a weak car battery... (am grasping at straws for an explanation here...!). |
