EGR Code Question

Brought my E53 to my yesterday for what seems to be a skip, or "hiccup" during acceleration, primarily in 1st and 2nd gear. I notice this the most when shifting into 2nd, and strong throttle. There will be a couple interruptions in the smooth flow of power and then all smooths out. I knew it was time for plugs, but wanted him to check for any codes- No Check Engine light.

He installed the new plugs, and no difference, although they were definatley needed. I ordered new coils and will install this weekend. I believe that will take care of the skip- We'll see.

The codes he found were P1409 and P1410, EGR codes. The puzzling part is no check engine light. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

So I might as well respond to my own thread. Maybe the additional info will earn a response!

I installed a new set of coils, and the skip went away- Engine running beautifully.

Codes P1409 and P1410 persist, but now something new- Still no Service Engine light, but the 4x4 warning light is on, and the ABS and Brake lights are on.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Try clearing the codes and see if they come back. they may have been from previous condition.

The red brake light is on.

And we did clear the codes, they come right back.

No Service Engine light, no other codes, seems to be running fine.

Thanks for the help!!!

wpoll will become famous soon enough
Do you have any specific BMW code readers or a generic ODB-II reader? The DSC system codes may not show up on a generic reader...
