Between floor noise, ambient noise, road noise, and after all that, we are talking audio over Bluetooth Protocol, audio quality is something of a small *afterthought* when I factor all that in - for me at least these days.

Headunit serves 3 things - BT audio, BT Phone, and GPS (whether it onboard, audio from waze/gmaps over audio, and or carplay/android auto)

Not what I meant.. I am not a music lover.. and I keep my speakers stock on all my cars.. luckily my e70 has L7 audio.. which is amazing.. but my wife’s Honda CRV when I got it used came with an Chinese android screen and a back up camera.. it lacked bass.. treble was too high no matter how I set the equalizer.. and I’m a tech head.. so I know how to fiddle with those things.. anyways.. I switched it to a pioneer 7 inch screen .. and kept the stock speakers.. and the sound was night and day .. for Bluetooth talking.. streaming.. and usb.. ..
on the other hand I recently purchased an f-style android 10.25 inch for my e70 ..benefit of the unit I am getting is that it won’t replace the audio in my car.. just screen replacement with android integration which has a separate (central) speaker for navigation.. the just my 0.2 cents..

What do you guys think about this Android HU?

If you give me your preferences.. I would gladly guide you through AliExpress for your e53 headunits... I suggest px5 processor.. with at least 4 gigs ram and FHD screen of course.. and like I said before.. audio is hit and miss ..

Interesting. I did notice that CW's new 8.xx android had the same theme/wallpapers as my old phone that ran KitKat. Hard to complain about 3-400 dollar head units. As long as it gets the job done I suppose.

My PX5 board with octacore and 4GB ram performs excellently. Barely 30% of RAM usage when I run iGo, Pandora, and iBus. If I add one of the Wx radar mapping apps or Wx channel or Spectrum TV I still get snappy performance in all the apps.

When it was a PX3 board with 1GB RAM, I experienced pathetic app response, even when lightly loaded.

Good call on the OEM look and butonology.

Exactly my point.. thank you)
Some seller on AliExpress lie about the actual components and put an overlay.. so please read the specs carefully.. .. and whoever has these units.. I will later advice you to download an app from the play store that will tell you exactly what u have .. processor and ram and space
Called Aida64

Well my unit arrived today, just making sure it fits before I do anything else:

Next to the OEM unit:

Will do, first thing was put a anti-glare screen protector on it. Had it laying around as they came in a pack.

Will be ordering some additional parts so I can use the OEM microphone and GPS antenna.

Also looks like I need farka extension for the FM antenna from the front of the car to all the way to the back where my antenna connector is.
