How to turn off self-retracting steering column?

All of a sudden the comfort access auto/self retracting steering column makes a really uncomfortable noise when I turn off the car as it retracts itself.



I mean it has always made some noise but it's really loud now.



Looks like the steering column tilts up too much and the plastic cover rubs against the leather and dash it's getting tightly squeezed in and makes a horrible noise and feel like it's eventually going to break the trim or wear excessively.



Anyway to stop this feature?
