Coding what?

There's a number of issues that can cause what you are seeing. First off, can you confirm that you have a trailer light module fitted?

First of one get a laptop and install bmw standard tools and get a kdcable for your car and then using ncs expert you can code the trailer fault to get off

I get what you are saying. What I don't get is why you are saying that coding out a fault is a good thing to do....

Surely it is better to actually locate and fix the fault than to just "code it out"? What if it's an electrical short in the cars wiring? Simply coding it out doesn't fix the shorting wiring, which could lead to a fire...

An extreme example, I'll admit - this particular fault is probably not that bad.

It's not normal to have a the trailer lighting warning when no trailer is connected and it's not just a coding issue...

And also... coding out the trailer warning light is only likely to be possible if the AHM (trailer) module is fitted, so my question still stands - is the trailer module fitted?

If it helps, here's the OEM trailer kit fitting guide, which includes some circuit info.

Sounds like a good plan - I'd say the electric brake controller is causing your issues. If these are not fitted correctly they can cause problems (like you are seeing).

Make sure the auto-electrician is familiar with BMW electrics.

Yeah will likely be the electronic brake controller.. when mine is hooked up with no trailer attached it throws up the check trailer lights.. presumably because it’s wired into the brake lights.
