Which brake pads do the dealers use?
I just had ALL my brakes done at the dealer...front, rear, rotors, etc. However it feels like the vehicle slowly comes to a stop. I even took it back and they re-bled the brakes to get rid of any possible air in the lines, but really not much of a difference. On my 540i however (I know it's lighter,) when you tap the brakes, you get immediate response the way it should be! |

no, not Mintex.. Jurid and Textar are a very common choice on OEM BMW.
with new brake pads/rotors, you *NEED* to bed them in before they actually bite the way they are supposed to. |

Brake Bedding
Should I be doing this on a new X5 with 45 miles on it?

I would. Technically, you can just drive and the pads will eventually bed themselves into the rotors. This will happen all by itself over several hundreds/few thousands of miles all on its own. |

The OEM brake pads are JURID or TEXTAR

So do you guys recommend swapping out the pads for something better than stock, or is it only a minimal difference??

So why don't dealers or BMW just use the less-dusting Axxiss pads as OEM that alot of owners eventually put on.

Performance-wise BMW pads are among the best. They just produced way too much dust.
