washed car. drove home , parked up , turned car off as normal. to find the rev counter stuck on at 2k temp gauge at middle and petrol gauge showing 1/4 , radio still on , was on computer so no actual radio station on, central locking not working ,went round back to find brake lights on , no fronts though which is a bonus, though nope that's not right, removed battery terminal left it a few minutes reconnected it, and it sorted itself out ,

On that note check your battery voltage it might be going bad.
On the oil, I always use LIQUI MOLY LEINCHTKAUF HIGH TECH 5-W40 on my X5 N62 engine and the X3 M54 engine. They seem to do the trick just fine, with a MAN filter.
