Whistle Door unlock- driver seat default, funny issue.

So, when I was working on the fuel pump, I left the rear seat on the floor board, with the middle seatbelt attached; to keep it outta my way, I wrapped the rear/middle seat belt around the driver seat head rest; it worked.

The ratcheting slack adjuster wouldn't give it up when it was time to put it back together......, it kept taking up slack like a boa constrictor.

I decided to remove the D/S head rest, but the rear seat belt was still too tight.

So I reclined the driver's seat as far back as it would go. The seat belt kept tightening, lol.

But I managed to remove the head rest and free the seat belt, and finish the job.

Here's the catch; when I unlock the car with a key or fob, the driver seat goes back to that same reclined position.

I tried to re-program the D/Seat (to suit my Mediterranean heritage...), but it still reclines fully.

PDF owner's manual doesn't seem to cover "possessed seats".

Anyone else have this issue?

I love that bug! Drove me nuts until I figured out cure!

You need to lock and unlock the car from outside with the key not remote.

This would happen to me frequently and I would have to hit my memory button to restore the seat but the next time I would open with the remote fob the seat would be back in some weird place I moved to fit a box in the back or such.

I would roll down my window and do it from inside the car otherwise I would never remember and back to strange position again

It doesn't help to just unlock with key. Apparently it stores the preferred position when locking with each different key

I'll get the other key and see if the seat does the same thing.

Great point.

Report back. It should return to the last position when THAT key locked the door manually.. it's very strange there are 2 saved positions on the seat controler but they have no bearing on the position saved with the key

Yes, as far as I understand the saved positions on the seat controller are in addition and separate to the ones saved to the key(assuming it's coded to do that). That being said I find the saved climate control settings a bit confusing sometimes.

I brought my wife's key to the car; it unlocked the car and the seat, mirrors, and steering wheel went to her saved settings.

Then I locked the car, brought her key in the house and brought my key back out to the car....

I unlocked the car and the seat, mirrors, and steering wheel acted properly; remembered my preferences.

Fixed without knowing what happened.

Ready to tackle a fuel filter R&R very soon.
