Interesting... looks like they changed the buttons to be more useful.
I may return my current unit for this now lol

Just ordered mine! They fixed my complaint about the usefulness of the buttons, the previous had all buttons that were useless unless you had all their options like TPMS and etc...well V4 fixed it so it will give it a try!

I am very excited about this. My 4.6 has an ancient aftermarket headunit and it drives me crazy because of how dated and cheap looking is.

I guess I need to buy one of these Android units, as I can get NO sound out of my OE system (factory NAV, no DSP). All the choices are somewhat overwhelming, but I'm curious what makes you guys excited about this Avin unit vs. (for example), this unit from XTRONS that I'm considering: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...5Z5MU6OM&psc=1
Is the appeal mainly that it's an OE-appearing unit with the latest/greatest specs? Also, when a long cable is needed to go to the connections in the back, are you guys buying those or just splicing/extending the cables that come with the unit? Seems like they charge a lot for the extra wire. Thanks, AM.

Rear connections vary so getting the cable from the head unit supplier would be the best, IMHO. Also, I suggest a 4GB RAM processor. 2GB can get the job done but just like HP, too much RAM is just enough. ![]() Mike

The Official Anybrand Android Radio setup thread.
Yes for me it's mainly the aesthetics of OEM looking as possible.
Not to mention the boot screen logo and splash screen is like the newer BMW Connected Drive like this: https://youtu.be/tW6AdD06O6s All other Android units you can change the boot logo but cannot change the 1st splash screen without a custom rom anr image. As for the wire I bought one from China for $20. That cost would of been about the same me purchasing the wires and extending it myself plus the cost of the friction tape.

Got shipping notification from Avin and thought it was stock in stock in CA but tracking is from DHL coming from China.
