Idle issue after full coolant system overhaul and battery replacement
Long story short radiator blew 3 days before Christmas and I have been repairing the whole coolant system between snow, rain, polar vortexes and parts deliveries. During the course of this the car became ridiculously low on gas and the battery died. With everything back together I went for a ride yesterday to get gas and found that the idle of the car would drop really low when coming to a stop sign or stop light nearly causing it to stall. I held my foot on the accelerator to keep the revs up and got back home just fine. Once parked in the driveway I let it idle again and it dropped real low and then settled at the normal idle rate. Check plugs and coils and everything looked good. Ran the scan with the foxwell 510 and came back with nothing besides and airbag sensor and secondary MAF issue (which has been on going for so long Its part of the daily routine). I am going to go at the DISA valve when i got home and see if that is the culprit as I lost light in the driveway and could locate my T-40 at the time. Is DISA the next logical step? Is there a way to adjust the idle with the foxwell? Thanks in advance for helping my 6th BMW be the one I truly wrench on.

its the scondary though. I neglected to mention that I took off, removed the filter, sprayed with MAF cleaner, reconnected, re-scanned and that code had cleared.

Sounds like an intake leak. I would smoke test it to be sure.

Foxwell can set the idle speed. I bumped mine 25 rpm and it's idle is butter smooth now.

how did you do that? I'm still new with the foxwell and learning the menus by fumbling through it. hk

Only way to effectively clean the MAF is with MAF cleaner. Even then it doesn't always work or the problem comes back before long. Might try cleaning it again and see what happens. If you didn't have the problem before the last time you drove it and the fuel was very low it is more likely fuel related. I would be sure the battery is fully charged, fill the tank and drive it for 50 miles or so and see if the problem goes away. Shouldn't have to adjust idle. Most likely that is masking the problem.

The 3rd main option is for service like resetting oil service etc. Service > drive > motor > adj idle

Double and triple checked my work. Picked up some techron and went for a 20 mile ride, ran perfectly at speed but below 1,000 rpm still misfiring/hesistating.
I Pulled the disa and found that the o-ring was either never there or completely gone. Picking one up this afternoon. May or may not have anything to do with the problem but more maintenance never hurt. thank you for the advice on the foxwell I will give that a try. Also looks like the ccv may be coming into play as one of the feeder hoses looked quite rough and i can imagine the parts I can't see are worse. That'll be another thread for sure.

Disa seal is a huge vacuum leak possibility. I used Teflon tape to snug up an iffy disa seal. I have special Teflon tape that turns color under pressure it really helps determine the right amount to use.
