I think you should go for it! It's what I would do in your shoes. I had SAS issues with my wife's e83 when we bought it used. At the time, FCPEuro had OE steering sensors (BMW logo filed off) for closer to $200 IIRC. At over $300 now for a genuine sensor, I'd take the chance on the repair kit. There aren't a lot of parts inside the sensor to go bad.
Also, if you change your mind and get a new sensor, keep in mind it must be "coded" to your particular vehicle. I was able to code mine using Progman. AM.

I put one in my watch list on eBay.
I have had two steering angle sensor errors in the past half year and have been dreading replacing it. This looks very much up my alley. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Nice. Where do you guys even come up with this on your radar. It would not have been on mine, and I believe I may on a third replacement
Just sheer luck googling for the PN on Ebay and this cropped up ? |

I'm not going to bother looking up the PN or what bmwminiparts dot com will charge but 66% is HUGE. LOL, sure wish we had that for the abs module, etc, etc. The long laundry list of expensive parts on this not so high KBB truck

As AM said... they run about $300 plus or minus. Cheapest I found was on Ebay for ~$180 for what they claim is a new OE sensor. I'm curious about the repair so I'll go with that. Says they beefed up the design of the contacts that run along the track. I'm always for improving on a design to prevent having to do a repair twice.

Ha. Tried to save $ . Did ABS module repair. They swore up and down they bench tested it, etc. Post repair, etc, ruling out the harness, etc. Ordered a new module, and boom, all good to go. Heh. I welcome inexpensive OE-like repairs anyday these days. Got too many bandaids from the bleeding.

If the failure is a wiper contact I would try to fix first without the kit. One drop of deoxit gold might be all you need Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
