Thanks for the input but, as for lowering spring. I am looking at the H & R wheels spacer is not an option as my tires all the way to the fender. As for alignment needed after wider tires I'm not sure.

If you go too far the tires will be throwing debris up on the fenders. Spacers will also help fill the wheel wells and improve handling because of the wider stance. Suggest the spacers that bolt in place and come with longer lug bolts. Lowering and/or spacers will change alignment so you will need to have that done. An offset difference on the new rims will also change alignment.

His rears are et24 Prop. So they stick out another 6mm from factory. Not much, but it makes a small difference. A drop should improve the look substantially. I think I'd pursue that before the flares, though I much prefer an X with flares to one without.

BTW Emory, if you do get flares, you could easily run a 15mm spacer to bring them flush with the flares. If you choose to forgo the flares, a drop may give you a perfect look as it will increase your camber in the rear and bring the top of the tire in.

That 1/2" can make a huge difference visually. He may not need spacers for the flares with that bit of extra offset.

I had some wheels that were the same offset in the front as the rear. I just couldn't stand the fronts past the wheel well. I had them less than two days. Mounted my other 20's on and sold them.

Whatabout those flares? I looked at ETK to find the parts for a lower flare, but it was cornfusin'. Is there a bottom flare for the rear bumper that meets the wheel arch flare? Is the rear 4.8is trim just some plastic that stick onto the OE bumper? That could be compelling as a short cut to the visual mods. I do like the 4.8is bumpers. On Alpine white, it could be holy hell awesome. The back I could do pretty easily if it's small parts, but we've got to get some rock chips on this front one, 1st.

I run 11" et24 in the rear with 325/35/20's and needed the 15mm spacer to be flush with the flares on the lower EHCII suspension of the 4.8. Now, with the aero kit they stick out a tiny bit as the IS flares are wider it seems by maybe 2-3mm.

The rear flares can be retrofitted to the rear bumper I believe if you are willing to do some trimming. See here where the slits for the flares go into the IS bumper. Some time with a hot razor or dremel will sort it on a 3.0 or 4.4 bumper. Now that I think about it... I think there is a retrofit DIY on here or one of the other BMW forums.
