LOCKED OUT, SCREWED
Freaking out. After about an hour of Driver DHC install and careful testing, and very careful vapor barrier repair I hopped in the X, drove around the driveway, parked it. Went to get out and nothing. Unlocked it with center console, up n down fine. Key fob , fine. But no response from the inside door handle release.
It's making a resistance when pulled n springs back into place, so I know the handle end is fine. Then , squeezed out of the passenger side. Same test, door will not release. Manual lock system works great. Pull the door handle. Nothing. NOW WHAT? Don't tell me I have to figure out how to remove the inner door panel while inside the car? Please. What could it be? I was so patient and careful with the install. Tested the DHC many times before sealing up the door. Worked great. I even used a special aluminum hollow pipe/tube to properly press the cap on the ball. The DHC fit perfect. No issue replacing the lock mech. Just the slightiest pull n the door opened. Thanks, I think this X is ready for a cocktail party, Molotoff that is. ![]()
