Although an M5 as opposed to an X5 I found this thread very useful - https://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e3...tallation.html

Thank you titan silber. I had never found that thread in all my research and enjoyed reading all 35 pages.

I just bought the Avant 4 System for my son for his 4.8 is. Does anybody know of an installer in the DFW market who has done one of these before. Just concerned a stereo shop may not be interested in doing this job.

If you have the Business CD with Mid there is a little trimming but not enough to change it forever if you ever want to go back to stock.

You need the iBus adapter for the DSP to function and it is included when you order for DSP. The iBus adapter also allows for resetting the factory OBC values.

Price has dropped again to $399 for the base model.

Question on the Avin radio. I have the Nav and CD radio loaded on my unit. If I dont care if it doesnt work anymore do I need to buy the Nav cables? My unit does not have DSP. Anything else I need to look out for? Thanks.

Yes, you need the navigation extension cables if you had factory navigation. The nav screen is just a display, all the components are in the rear under the deck.

My solution was a BlueBus

I've done some reading and I found a lot of nice stereos that have that OEM look but they all say they won't work with the DSP system.

Is there a plug-n-play system available that replaces the OEM unit?

Also, once I replace the OEM unit I can't set the clock / reset the trip meter etc anymore right? Or is there a workaround for this?
I instead purchased a BlueBus unit. It connects in where the CD changer goes in the rear left compartment. It replaces the CD component with full bluetooth capabilities. I use my phone for Spotify etc. I love it and it works with the steering wheel buttons to call up Siri and to make calls etc.
