Glad you posted as I think I am one of those others. For over a year now the power performance etc. has been sluggish and thought I might have to change the vanos valves. I got my ivm out and sure enough one of those pins had the slightest indication that it was bad under a magnifier. Ie the break in the solder. So, I went to it and resoldered all four pins as described in the thread in bimmerforums. Unfortunately, I snapped off one of those rear cover clips on the ebox lid getting theivm out. But got the job done and the X5 seems to be shifting and running better. I will give it another two weeks to confirm but I think I will be ordering another one of those modules after that. Thanks again!

Need to tell you another story about this slow responsiveness at low rpm. I was parked at the lights about 4 cars back with my previous X5. The turning lane next to me was empty and through my side mirror no one coming. We were in the exit from the freeway. So, I was in the wrong lane and pulled out into the empty lane. The lights were still red. I planted my foot on the accelerator but it was like a snail with no response. Suddenly, I was hit from behind which lifted me in the air a bit. The guy must have been speeding off the main highway. My wonderful blue 2003 X5 E53 with comfort suspension and seats was a right off and I was to blame. The positive was that my insurance paid out a lot more than the car was worth. But, thinking back if my IVM was working correctly I may have avoided it all! cheers
