Aren't your style 87's right on the edge now with no flares? They were flush on mine before I put the flares and spacers on.

I don't gauge too far by the top of the tire. I look at the bottom where they are
already significantly outside the bottom of the flare. They have not been a problem. I may well be on the conservative side. Lowering did more to fill the wheel wells than the spacers.

I have had the spacers in place for many years. No wheel bearing problems.

This is my winter wheel combo and the fitment is so perfect.
20x9 wide, 24mmET offset value of wheel PLUS a 24mm DRA spacer set in the rear ONLY. Front wheels fit perfect, as is.

You have a different definition of "perfect" - here in NZ that would fail our annual vehicle safety check - since tyres are proud of the fender.

Wheel spacers are also sort of illegal here - unless certified by an auto-engineer, which cost $100s to get.

But I bet it looks good!!

Add one more reason I'm glad I don't live elsewhere in the world. Though, if we're honest, all developed nations are heading towards a nanny state.

Every "developed" nation has some level of this sort of nannying going on... NZ isn't much better or worse than other places. Some of our vehicle law is based on past bad experience - i.e. poorly constructed or incorrectly fitted wheel spacers on badly driven vehicles have been cited as the cause of accidents causing serious injury or death, so un-certified wheel spacers are banned.

Just another case of knee-jerk legislation….

Question to those that have spacers - given the E53 rear camber setup (a small negative camber) does increasing the rear track with spacers increase the wear rate on the inner edge of the rear tyre?

Spacers increase negative camber so vehicle must be aligned to adjust for the increase. With the 18mms I have on staggered 87s there is no problem getting within specs.
