That last picture is the coaxial cable. Where do you have that connected to?

That's the GPS antenna that came with the Eonon.

Here's a description of the photos:

1) Factory NAV and CD Changer (Left Side of Trunk)
2) Factory Sub (Right Side of Trunk)
3) Closeup of Fuses & Relays (Above Factory Sub)
4) Routing of extended (15 ft) Eonon Harness
5) Connector from Eonon harness swapped for factory connector (per Eonon instructions)
6) Close up of above connector
7) Antenna connector from Eonon harness connected to factory antenna
8) Unused connectors from Eonon harness
9) CAN Bus decoder (provided by Eonon)
10) I believe this to be the factory antenna booster that the factory connector was plugged into (Not sure if that's truly the antenna booster)
11) Blue factory connector in the dash (previously connected to BMW head unit)
12) White factory connector in the dash (also previously connected to BMW head unit)
13) Eonon connector in the dash (from Eonon 15 ft harness) - Ground, +12 volts, speakers, etc...
14) Eonon connector/harness in the dash (2 x USB plugs and Microphone)
15) Eonon GPS antenna connector (in the dash)

A few questions:

#13 - are there any intermediate connections downstream of that connector or nothing until the other end of the 15ft harness.

You were going to try reconnecting the factory radio - did you get a chance to do this?

In the photo I've attached where does the other end of the cable (with what likes like only 4 wires) go that can be seen plugged into the factory radio? You shouldn't have anything plugged into that radio as it is no longer part of the system.

I have a suspicion that you have run the 15ft cable the wrong way around. One end should go into the radio (via a short adapter cable that has the connector visible in photo number 13) and the other end plugs into the car's wiring harness that has been unplugged form the radio unit located next the battery. In my install the red CAN bus decoder box ended up in the dash, not in the trunk.

That said my experience is based on an Xtrons radio but I think they're all v similar.

There are no intermediate connections downstream of the connector from the back of the Eonon to the end of the 15 ft extension harness.

The 4-wire plug that goes into the factory radio (which you have said is no longer part of the system) replaces the multi-wire plug next to it. That multi plug is now connected to a mating plug that also came on the end of the 15 ft extension harness, and that multi-plug and its harness are part of the factory wiring.

If you scroll to the bottom of this page:https://www.eonon.com/Android-Car-GP...S/GA7166A.html you'll see instructions from Eonon on how to connect the 15 ft harness. As to the CAN bus decoder, the only place you can plug it, is at the end of the 15 ft extension, in the trunk.

The page that you linked has a section labelled “Installation Method of 6M Extension Harness“ and then there’s a photo of a cable with 4 large black connectors. Do you have this cable?

Yes. That's what I'm calling the 15 ft. extension harness. In reality 6M is 18 feet, not 15.

The way it's installed now, the connector with 4 wires (40-pin female plug C) is plugged into the old radio (the one you said should be abandoned), and the other connector (40-pin male plug A) is connected to the BMW factory harness. That BMW factory harness used to be plugged into the old radio.

The other 2 connectors B and D (with the round pins), do not connect to anything in my car at this time, as there is nowhere for them to plug in anyways. I think they are a replication of connectors A and C, and they are there for BMW's factory setup for those radios that have the round pins instead of the flat pins.

I forgot to answer one of your questions from a couple of posts earlier about plugging the factory radio back in to test, and the answer is NO. I haven't had a chance to do that yet.

OK, it seems your 6M extension cable is quite different than the one Xtrons uses. Can you confirm that that 6M cable has 4 BMW connectors at one end and a single connector at the other end that connects to the Eonon head unit?

What's confusing me is that they show a "normal extension harness" and they also show the 6M harness without clear indication as to when each is used.

Have a read of https://www.m5board.com/threads/help-eonon-ga6201-android-headunit-a0579-harness.554561/#post-7247169 - sounds similar to what you're experiencing. Although it's not exactly a config you can drive around with try reconnecting the old BMW headunit at the two BMW connectors in the dash while leaving everything else connected and see if you get sound? If yes I think you need the Resler ibus interface and the app on the radio to tell the DSP amp to turn on. Or find a hardwire way to achieve the same. I have also see a mention of "You must Recode your DSP amp using NCS Expert. Change the BEDIENELEMENTE parameter from “bordmonitor” to “mid_basis"

I can confirm that the 6M cable is as you described exactly. As to when to use the 6M harness, if you look close, they say to use it when you have the blue and white BMW factory connectors.

As I show in my pictures, that's exactly what I have in the dash; both of those connectors plug to the back the factory BMW unit. If I plug the factory unit back, I WILL have to disconnect the Eonon 6M harness and plug the factory harness back into the radio, otherwise, I know nothing will work.

My only reason to do that, is to see if the amp "resets" and I can get audio back out of the speakers. With the Eonon and 6M harness, I can get sound partially working (front speakers only), then again only for a while, consequently nothing. No sound at all.

I've read a couple of threads that talked about the system working for a while, and the factory amp shutting down thereafter. The problem turned out to be the factory amp itself. I am beginning to suspect the same in my car, at which point I would install after market amps rather than try to swap the factory amp for another.

On the other hand, if the factory amp continues working fine with the factory head unit, then I'm at a loss for what to do, as I don't think programming (using NCS expert) will resolve the issue.

What makes you so sure this statement is true?

It’s obviously your car and your money but you seem quite ready to condemn the factory amp as faulty without hard evidence?
