I rotated the tyres. The sound stayed on the right hand side. I put the spare on and the sound didn’t change. Around 85km/hr speedo when you excellerate and or back off the sound goes louder Then at 100km/hr speedo the sound is very loud. I’ll change the bearing and see how we go.

Ahlem sorry I don’t understand counterweight the rotating mass?

Thanks guys for your help.

The counterweight regards the wheel balancing weight. Moot point you moved the whole wheel.

Your picture disappeared but if memory serves, it looked strikingly like my example of my bad bearing.

I have another bad bearing that is not quite as bad and I'll try to get a good vibration scan on it before I replace it I plan to do that this week.

I have some very helpful hints on doing rear bearing on xo. Using a couple wobble extensions you can remove the bolts without removing either the suspension or the axle greatly simplifying this service. I've seen people cut their exhaust bracket, drop their wheel support and remove the entire CV axle. None of that is needed. Just push the CV in a couple inches to snake a flexible extension around the CV. (also having both rear wheels off the ground helps so you can rotate the wheel to helpful positions will help but may need to block counter rotation with a brick when you need to hold the hub from turning to break the bolts free.

Thanks andrew I saw that post it was excellent. Hopefully this weekend I get to attack it. I loved the slots that you cut in the bolts to help as well. Good thinking and thank you for posting it.

Don't try to break the bolts free with the slots: just for spinning them off and on.

Response

Sound seems to start at certain speeds.
Sound does not really change with speed changes.
Does not react to turning.
Does not “coast”

Not sure what does not coast means.

As far as doesn’t change with speed that can be perfectly normal.

Example. If at 52 mph the off balance of the wheel finds a resonant frequency of a control arm you’ll get say a 26 hz vibration.

That 26 Hz is the resonance so even though the shake might be 12-14 or 24-28 the sound will be 26hz based.

If the sound is much higher like you mentioned “whine” then number one suspect is tread.

Again likely not a direct transmission but found something like s body panel with that frequency.

Do the vibration test.
