Airbag Connector Plug
My airbag connector plug cover is broken. Giving me Low resistance error code on my drivers side airbag. I have taken out the connector plug and found the pins in the cover broken off. Does anyone have, or know where to get these connectors online? Seems like a waste to buy a whole cable rapair kit, when I could just replace the connector, or connector cover. BMW e53 3.0i 2001 |

If Norway is anything like NZ, there's not much chance of finding an E53 in a wreckers yard - but as the plug is likely to be common to most BMW's of that era, check out wreckers for ANY early-2000s BMW and see if you can get a plug that way.

In the pic you posted...you can see the last 7 digits of the BMW part number for this harness. Try inputting those last 7 digits into the part number search box at any of the online part database sites to see if it is still available. If it is...you can order it from your local BMW dealership's parts department...or the "BMW xx xx x xxx xxx' (where x = the actual BMW part number) into a google search box to see if other online vendors are selling that part.
{in the pic...I can see the last 7 part number digits next the BMW acronym...except the last digit is not legible 8 383 26?} ![]() EDIT: Can't tell if this is what you're looking for because we can't see the entire harness in your pic...but is i #4 in the diagram and link to the part database below?

I have finally found one in Whales on ebay. My local BMW dealer was not of much help. He could not get me even the entire harness, and at the wreck yard they would only sell me a whole door. I googled this number on the socket as you said, its 8383264 and came up with curtain airbag wire, not side door airbag. The dealer could not find the number in his system anyway.. Maybe the bloke I bought this from have been doing some modifications? 😂 Anyway, ordering the part now, and lets just pray its not broken on the pins as well 🙄
Thanks for the help guys. |

Why is that? In Norway they, are very common on the wreck yard. I think its because of all the road salt here. And the fact that this is probably the best BMW car with the worst steel 😂

Rust isn't a big problem here (thank goodness!). There are a few e53s being parted out on local auction sites but the sellers won't pull small parts (like plugs etc.) - only major components.

A late response, but I found my driver's door airbag clip was broken and this really helped.
Saved me replacing the whole wiring loom. https://forum.e46fanatics.com/showth...=680542&page=2 I didn't glue the clip, I just cut out two strips from a credit card and pushed them into the clip so with the existing broken clip and the new plastic, the tabs totalled 11mm. I then reset the light with INPA and it all works correctly! |

Thanks for the update, wogboy_9000.
Seems there's a couple of different connectors used on the side airbags, with some owners reporting a simpler yellow plug rather than the black version that can break as yours has. Very odd - still not sure if that's actually the case though - sample size is still to small to be sure...

If everything else fails as a last resort you can pull out the shorting splices from airbag side connector.

I think regardless of the plug, it will have the clip on top with the plastic safety/shorting pins. I first bought a new side airbag before realising it was the connector!
