PCV mod question

Hi all,
I have completed this mod on my X. I had quite a bit of oil in the old ccv system, so I assume it had failed and was sucking oil into cylinders. Now that I have completed mod, how long can I expect it to smoke a bit from purging the residual oil crap in cylinders and such? Should I run anything, like fuel system cleaner, through it to help with purging?!? Also, if the ccv was not root cause of my smoking issues, what would happen if I ran it and it does not stop smoking(can engine damage occur from me running it, trying to purge oil residue)?!?! Thanks for any help!

Steve
