Lightbulb Question related to angel eyes

Hello community,

Before 2-3 days I met a man who also has X5 and noticed that there is a dark foil on the headlights also original yellow angel eyes, they shone well and used them for daylight, just told me that the light was configured by laptop( i do not really know which program he used to ). I do not know if the power of the angel eye's light can be reinforced. Would also like to hear your opinions.

Currently im with white light, i know that i can't use them for daylight because they can be barely seen through the day, only in the evening. I'm considering to change the color back to the original ones. I need to polish the headlights, so i'm about to put little bit dark foil and to put the yellow eyes, what do you think fellas?

Foil where? Dark foil? Isn't foil shiny? Not sure what you are talking about. The angel eye bulb goes into a socket. The bulb already has chrome around it. Im of the opinion that nothing can be done about the brightness. Super bright LED's are available but IMO run dangerously hot. The brightest LED set i had melted its lens off. The boxes with the resistors also run extremely hot & have melted plastic connectors. Would be happy to hear otherwise.

I think Weisslicht LED halo bulbs are as good as it gets. But yes, as pointed out, they will shut off after 5 minutes of just sitting with no air across the headlights as they do heat up and thermal shutdown until they cool back off. As long as I am driving, no problems at all for 7 years now.

I do not know how this can be done via laptop ( to boost the brightness of the angel eyes ). About the foil, when I will polish the headlights, i would say to the person to put transparent foil or little bit dark foil, also with this combination of dark foil + original yellow angel eyes would be okay for daylight

* its my opinion, i would be wrong.

waffen, I assume by foil you mean tint or film on the headlight, darker film definitely won't help "brighten" the angle eyes but a good clear film can prevent both rock chips and yellowing of the headlight after you polish them, and no, there is no way that I have every heard of to increase the brightness of the OEM bulbs via a computer or coding.

What Overboost said is right, you can get some REALLY bright LEDs for the angle eyes, what I've done is run the "ballast" outside the headlight case and seal the small hole I drilled up with silicone.

I have 40watt LEDs in mine now, they're brighter than OEM for sure but as you'll find, the actual overall brightness is limited by the optic that BMW used in the headlight, not the brightness of the bulb you can install unfortunately.

Unless you want to get in to some serious work opening up the headlight itself and installing new rings, the best you'll probably be able to do is go with the Weisslicht LEDs OB calls out and enjoy what you can, its WAY cheaper and WAAAY easier in the long run
