To BAT or not to BAT, that is the question

Well, no going back now, the "Black Beast" has to go since "White Prince" has arrived:

https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...iles-away.html

9-20-20 update:

I did say I wouldn't go with BAT but broke my own promise and of course they rejected me since I want reserve and Cars and Bids suggested $5k reserve. Well, I'm not that desperate.
I decided to go with Ebay as they don't kill picture resolution like cars.com did:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/324297507493

My friend keeps telling me that it woud do well since there was no recent 4.6is on BAT and it does have some cool upgrades.
Here are my concerns:
While it's in great shape, it does have 133.5k miles and BAT might refuse my admission in first place.
Also, while there are valid buyers there with ready funds, there are also a lot ***holes who will try to kill your sale just because.
I kind a prefer to advertise the regular way (haven't really decided where exactly) and deal with and meet potential buyer the old fashioned way.
Yes, it does seem that BAT generates top sales but I wonder how many of the sales actually go through?
Once your car is sold, BAT collects their fee, puts you in touch with buyer and aufwidersehen.
If you have good buyer, no problem. But if you have someone who changes their mind and comes up with all kind of excuses, your hard work goes to toilet.
What say you masses?

Sell the white one and keep the 4.6! You'll regret it later on! I feel the 4.6 is the greatest E53 hands down!

I share your feeling about 4.6is and I'll certainly miss it but it has to go.

I suggest cars and bids. A good friend off instagram told me he wanted to sell his E53, and asked for some advice.
He sold his E53 straight six with a manual for over 12,500 USD. BAT denied his listing.
And I'm taking the credit, it was me who gave him the suggestion.
In total it only took him two weeks from the day he emailed his submission to list for sale, got approval, auction and closed the sale.

Cars and bids is a great idea! I'd probably go that route...

Actually, good friend of mine mentioned that twice to me.
I feel like BAT has become something ugly.
Thank you for the sugestion.

Just a guess but I think this might be my strategy if in your shoes:
1. Advertise locally (Craigslist here, although more and more it sucks). just for a week or two to see if there is local interest. Could also try FB Marketplace. Then,
A. Advertise nationally on Autotrader and similar sites. Expect it to take a while.
Or
B. If eager to sell get it listed on an auction site (even eBay) but be prepared to accept a lower price for a quicker sale

If you’re in BMW CCA advertise there, put an ad up here, other forums, etc. Low results likely but low/no cost

Actually, I'm sort of starting with your plan.
Did a quick ad last night on Craigslist with few old pictures.
I'm about to wash / clean it and take some pictures and then do Facebook as well and update craigslist:

https://chattanooga.craigslist.org/c...190501469.html

I understand cars get sold and bought unseen and in long distances (heck, I just bought one 2700 miles away) but I prefer face to face with potential buyer. He / she can see the car or me is the real deal and I can sort of judge if it's waste of my time.

Cars and Bids is probably your fastest sale option. May or not be the highest dollar option. Could go either way. But if I were to sell Red, that's probably where I'd take her. Check the previous E53 sales out, I think there were 2 or 3 and gauge yours.

I feel the same about BaT. It's gotten too "hipster" and social media site for my tastes.

BaT recently sold a 2004 imola red 4.8 with I think 38K miles or so for $26,750. Add their fee of 5% and that's about $28,100 to the buyer. I have a 2006 4.8 with 9500 miles and they wanted my reserve to be well under that. Made no sense to me with mine being 2 years newer and 1/4 of the miles of the 2004 example. They don't communicate well by taking forever to respond and don't address your input. They certainly seem like they have a great business model but the E53 is not something they give much thought.
