TeX5 is on a distinguished road
If I could get it with the 500hp V10, I might take it. Oh, but I need the the roof rails back on there.

Man, I know what I hate, and I think I hate that X6 in the picture. Audi allroad or Q7 in 2008! Jeff, want me to go sign up for allroadworld and Q7world? We need to get a head start on my future ownership.

More pics and the article translated......X7, X9 what next??

The new king of Bavaria

BMW intends large. Beside the X5 comes a Crossover Coupé, which aims particularly at the Mercedes Benz r-class.

On that Geneva salon announced BMW boss Helmut Panke from cheerful sky the debut of two new models: a space concept larva in Germany and a further x-variant, which will come in America off the line.

The space concept V3 and V5 (the Van interpretations of BMW) already know AUTO picture readers since past autumn. Now a new suggestion is thus added: the X6, king all Bavaria mobiles, a large all wheel Coupé on basis of the next X5 . With the announcement of these projects BMW wants to hold and by the competition not lose its customers with the bar.

Behind the new strategy is system. Their products again arranged Bavaria and in first five different vehicle lines divided: • L1: more ër , 6er , 7er , V5 • L2: 1er , more ér , Z4 , X3 , V3 • L3: Mini • L4: X5, of next X3, X6 • L5: Rolls-Royce.

Within these lines synergies are not only desirable, but condition. Line-spreading they are limited against it essentially to common components such as engines and electronics platforms.

The two spacefunctional concepts are integrated into the passenger car lines L1 and L2. The large model, which admits internally as V5, Luxury Activity Vehicle (LAV) and Luxury sport Cruiser (LSC) is, docks to the L1-Familie on. The smaller model, which BMW Insider than V3 and Family Activity Vehicle (FAV) know, is part of the extended L2-Matrix.

While the V5 laid out as 4+2-Sitzer has also the Mercedes Benz r-class in the visor, advanced the V3 conceived as 4+1-Sitzer into new ground - no other Premium manufacturer has here at the moment something comparable in the koecher.

And that should be higher also a stage the case. Because with the X6 BMW rounds the x-family upward off. The Allradler is longer than a X5, somewhat flatter and with comfort and technique details gespickt. From the outside feature it becomes the future Munich flagship.

Until the X6 got green light, by the planners various alternative scenarios were played to the end:
• X4. this model should have closed the gap between X3 and X5. A Zweituerer with style elements of the wild x-Coupé-study. The car was intended as 2+2-Sitzer with large rear flap and Coupé Sitzanlage. This concept is invariably current, is not again to be pushed however not 2010 ago.

• X7. no coupéartiges SUV like the X6, but a X5 in the large size with three adequate seat rows and a substantial trunk. This model would have been BMW answer to the AUDI Q7, but the stars did not stand from the outset well, because the proud dimensions and the high weight were to be brought only heavily with the drivingdynamic requirements in agreement.

• X9. also this concept possesses good long-term chances. Like the X6 the X9 has likewise only four seats, but but he exceeds even rank the Rover regarding space offer and equipment luxury. The X9 projected as genuine 7er-Alternative would have come exclusively with V8 and V12-Aggregaten on the market.

In the final elimination the X6 - even if only scarce - got the addition. The youngest L4-Variante owes not least to its stimmigen Design. They read correctly: This is first under the direction of the Mr. Bangle and van Hooydonk developed BMWS, who does not polarize, but spontaneously inspired. That is at the balanced proportions as well as because of the renouncement of unmotivated joints, sicken, radii and "flaming surfaces". Even the lights, the up-to-date darkest chapter in the BMW Design, can be able to be seen sudden.

Fortunately the end of the wild era concerns also the interior. Inclined levels, from that nothing emerging scoops and betuliche details are final passé. Instead clear structures, doing good unaufgeregte surfaces and an ergonomics, dominate which one understands also without academic training at first attempt.

None is to say more, BMW cannot to it-learn: The mechanism selector lever paged out in the 7er to the steering column returns in the X6 to its traditional place at the transmission tunnel. Beside it lives directly the iDrive CONTROLLER, which is to work owing to a clearer pushing and press Mimik much better.

The seat plant of the X6 is particularly exciting. That is on the one hand because of the combination of increased soil and coupéartiger seating position. On the other hand the X6 differs by the variable Gestuehl in row two of the competition. Here normally two persons are accommodated in strongly formed out seat bowls. On short distances still another third passenger can ride along on a distance-oldable flap-up seat.

Understructure, wheel suspensions and drive correspond to a large extent the next X5-Generation. The few differences are limited to the somewhat scarcer clearance, the standard sport chassis and the weight reduced by lighter attachments around approximately 100 Kilos. One does not have to be lightrather, in order to ahead-suspect the engine offer: • X6 3.0i, 3.0 litres, 258 HP • X6 4.0i, 4.0 litres, 306 HP • X6 5.0i, 4.8 litres, 367 HP • X6 3.0d, 3.0 litres, 231 HP • X6 3.5d, 3.0 litres, 272 HP.

There are the six cylinder also with hand switch, the V8 only with mechanism. Dynamic xDrive is naturally series for all models. Because the X6 in the gene pool of the X5 and the next X3 avails itself, is the BREAK even with modest 30,000 cars per year. BMW wants to set however on average 45,000 vehicles off, and we would not be surprised, if in the point of the six-year running time its buyers find 60,000 pieces - at prices, which might be appropriate for about ten per cent over those of the X5.

The swooping lines of the Q7 look just like the X5/X6 car. I am not sure it really looks any better. I agree that Bangel needs to move on to General Motors and start to re-design their stuff. He needs to get away from BMW before everyone starts hating their cars.

I actually like the new 5 series. I have ever since it came out, but I think everything else he has designed looks just a bit to funky for me. This seems to be the consensus of the rest of the world to...hopefully BMW will get this SH*& together before it is too late.

In the midgi minority here, but I like it. (Maybe it's because I'm sick as a fooking dog w/flu like crap?)

OTOH, 10% more than an X5?!

If it wasn't for 800 buck/month leases that can be written off
or pandering to gotta have the next 70/80G car, I would think that the Teutons, (MB,Porshce,BMW et al) have lost their minds. Maybe it's jes'me?!

If the Mkt doesn't shape up I may be hitching to WallyWorld to apply for that door check job.

(That was the "X6" I was referring to; that Audi looks like the home delivery milk trucks we had back in TheMotor in the '50s, )

HATE it! The windows are too short, the headlights are too small, the grille is too big... It reminds me of a picture of a Dodge Charger I saw in a magazine a while back.

The Grill on this one looks totally different, perhaps there will be an "M" branded model? check out the side grill

The picture posted previously on this thread has a bulb on the side of the fender while this image has an actual small grill, perhaps one is the X3 and another is the X5? also compare the two exhausts...oh and check out that cool one in silver below...

I like the front of this one. I think it's kinda cool. Much more appropriate than the other one in this thread. I don't like the back though. The taillights are boring, and the back looks very, very similar to an RX330.
