20" wheels from E70 onto E53
Has anyone done this before, take 20" 4.8 E70 rims and put them on an E53 ? I've had my 4.8iS E53 for a couple of years now and just recently managed to put cracks in both rear rims. Unable to find a set of the correct E53 20 inch wheels I bought a set of wheels of a later car ( E70 4.8) and bought some suitable rings but then found the rears rub on the inside. I didn't even try the fronts on the car but the offsets suggest they will be ok. I'm new to this whole offset, rings business but need to get the E70 rims to work on my E53. It looks like a set of 10mm spacers for the rears would be the go. Can these also deal with the different centre sizes or will the rings still be needed ? Some stats in case they help : Tyres are the same 275/40/20 front and 315/30/20 rear E53 Front 9.5x20 ET45 E53 Rear 10.5x20 ET30 E53 72.6mm centre E70 Front 10x20 ET40 E70 Rear 11x20 ET37 E70 74.1mm centre Cheers Rich |

I think you will just need the hub rings to get you from the E53 hub dia to the larger e70 hub opening.

There are a lot of e70 wheels that match those specs, including the Style 214s. Those are a pretty common upgrade on e53s.
Example Example Example I don't know what's causing the rubbing, but many folks have been down this path, so there is hope!

Looking at other threads everyone has used 20-30mm spacers on the rear, that would fix any rubbing issues by a mile.
Anyone know off the top of their head the max spacer you can use without having to get longer bolts ? |

Please only buy H&R DRa hub spacers in either 25mm or 30mm. Anything less requires longer studs and these 25mm spacers are perfect on rear of e53 for a flush look.

Just in case anyone is interested I got the 25mm H&R spacers for the rear and with those and the rings everything works fine. The wheels sit out nicely and fill the wheel arches rather than siting well inside with the original rims.
Now to deal with the multiple oil leaks from the engine.... |

Did you need conversion rings for the front, 72.6 to 74.1mm? What was the part number of the spacers you used on the rear??
Thanks |
